Winter

Holiday hamper program 2025

Winterwear program
With the help of talented local crafters, we collect and distribute warm winter hats, scarves, and mittens/gloves to the families we serve. From infants to adults, this programs ensures that all our neighbours stay warm through the cold winter months, typically from October to March.
School Snacks program
The Kanata Food Cupboard's School Snacks Program provides healthy snacks to children during the school day, helping ensure students have access to nutritious food that supports their learning, focus, and well-being.
By providing fresh and nutritious options like fresh fruit, granola bars, applesauce, and dairy products like cheese strings and yogurt, the program helps reduce food insecurity while supporting children's success in the classroom.

The School Snacks Program is made possible through the generosity of our community, donors, and fundraising events such as Kanata Bites & Delights. Tickets available now!

Ongoing programs

Birthday boxes
As donations allow, we provide cake mix, icing, and other birthday supplies to families with children for them to celebrate their birthday.

Literacy program
Families can browse our children's bookshelf year-round to take home free books and encourage a love of reading.
Each January, we partner with the Kanata-Hazeldean Lions Club and Kanata-Stittsville Kiwanis Club to celebrate Family Literacy Week with expanded programming.

Pop-up thrift events
In partnership with QuirkyBird Studios, we host several events throughout the year where we transform a space into a Pop Up Thrift store and invite families to shop for clothing, footwear, housewares and more for their families free of charge.
