Board Director (volunteer position)
The KFC Board of Directors is a dedicated team of volunteer leaders from both nonprofit and for-profit sectors who are deeply committed to our mission. We strive to alleviate food insecurity in the Kanata community. Serving on our Board is an extraordinary opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a difference.
Job description
Board Openings: The KFC is currently recruiting leaders with Finance and Accounting experience.
Key responsibilities
- In fulfillment of fiduciary responsibilities, the volunteer Board is expected to establish policies, to make significant and strategic decisions, and to oversee the organization's activity.
- Board members serve a term of 2 years.
- Members are expected to attend 9-12 board meetings per year and dedicate between 5-10 hours per month to board activities.
- Members should be prepared to participate in discussions and decision-making processes by reading board materials in advance of meetings.
- Board members are also expected to engage in one or more committees and are encouraged to participate in at least one volunteer event per year.
Desired skills and expertise
- We are currently recruiting leaders with Finance and Accounting experience.
- The ideal candidate would have experience with financial reporting, and supporting budgeting and auditing functions, ideally in the non-profit sector.
- The ideal candidate would have non-profit board member experience (or received formal board training) as well as a track-record of supporting charitable causes, passion for the mission, and leadership skills to help support Board discussions.
